We made it! After ten days and 3, 400 miles on the road, we arrived at Penetanguishene, Ontario, Canada. We departed Port Ludlow on July 8. Along our route, we had memorable nights at Twin Falls, Idaho where we were wined-and-dined and in Wisconsin where childhood friends flew us over Lake Michigan so we could see how truly large a Great Lake really is. After leaving the high deserts of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Wyoming, the Nebraska scenery became much greener with many cornfields; however, we experienced our first tornado alert there. Otherwise we stayed at camp sites or Wall Mart parking lots !!! After arriving here, we organized and launched Puffin in time for the July 22 America's Great Loop Cruisers' Association (AGLCA) Rendezvous. We are currently attending informative seminars and social functions. Everyone has been very helpful and friendly. We hope to begin our actual cruise beginning at Georgian Bay by this weekend. We are excited to begin our loop. Thanks for all your encouragement. We miss you!

Hi Royce!!
Thanks for letting your loopy friends do the loop with you! We're glad to hear that you and Glenn made it to Canada safe and sound and that you're having fun. You did so much work to get ready for this! Was Lake Michigan like a small ocean from the air? We'll look forward to your next installment.
missing you, hugs,
Diane & your friends in Port Townsend
Hi Glenn & Royce:
I just took a look at your blog. What a wonderful thing you are doing! I hope you'll be able to stop by and visit. Just let us know when.
I heard that when Grandpa Taniguchi drove cross country with Grandma to Chicago, he got to Lake Michigan and exclaimed to her something like, "Oh no! I must have made a big mistake. It's the Atlantic Ocean!"
We often say that if it weren't for Lake Michigan, more people would go crazy. The Lake has a calming effect.
Love, Adrienne
