Wednesday 10/3
Puffin and crew depart the Hiwassee, and resume our trek down Chickamauga Lake. We come across yet another nuclear power plant (Sequoyah) and note that the water temperature of the river rise close to 5 degrees, caused by the reactor cooling water being dumped back. After motoring for about 3 hours, we arrive at Island Cove Marina & Resort(mile 477.5), a highly rated marina where we are treated to a swimmimg pool, covered moorage and air conditioned showers and laundromat. As Royce and I are dock walking, we are invited aboard by a couple who treat us to drinks and live entertainment as we discover that the husband is a professional musician. We are once again impressed with the southern hospitality and generosity of the people.
